One of our large grant holders, Hands that Talk were recently featured in a short film produced by our sole funder, Lloyds Banking Group.
It's fantastic to be able to showcase the work of one of our funded organisations through a professionally produced film.
Hands that Talk were established in 2000 to address a significant gap in service provision for Deaf and hard of hearing people living throughout the North-West of NI. They aim to improve the quality of life for Deaf people and furthermore to promote active participation.
They adopt a holistic approach to tackle problems such as marginalisation, poor self-esteem and social exclusion and we deliver a comprehensive programme of courses, training and social activities.
They were awarded a large grant in 2021 which provided £50,000 over 3 years. This grant enabled the organisation to pay the salary for the Finance and Interpreting Manager over a 3 year period.
NICVA has developed a series of tutorial videos to help treasurers and trustees of small to medium sized voluntary led organisations understand the basics of financial record keeping and good financial governance. This project was funded through the Special Initiatives Programme from the Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland.
These videos have also been developed to be accessible to those trustees whose first language is not English. They are available with Irish and British sign language interpretation and English subtitles can be translated into other languages.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland was awarded the Investors in People Award during a recent assessment.
Knowing that our nurturing and supportive approach to charities also extends to our vital staff team is incredibly rewarding.
We are proud of our team and celebrate them as part of this award!
Through our Special Initiatives Programme, we provided funding to NICVA to deliver the ‘Finance Made Easy’ project.
We are delighted to share with you tutorials produced by Tony Clarke of Clarke&Co. Accountants on Keeping Books of Accounts and Preparing Annual Accounts.
