Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland is happy to announce a collaborative project where Age NI and Community Foundation for Northern Ireland have secured funding towards the First Steps to Funding project, supporting older people’s groups throughout Northern Ireland.
First Steps to Funding is a two-year programme (2011 – 2013) providing fundraising training for age sector groups with an annual income of less than 20k delivered jointly by Age NI and Community Foundation NI. The programme also provides training for community workers supporting age sector groups in fundraising.
The project’s key aims are:
1) To directly address the barriers that people in later life experience when seeking small grants to maintain group activities.
2) To provide practical ideas and solutions to help people in later life overcome these fears and to build their capacity to directly access funding support.
3) To outline positive pathways for age sector groups to build greater long term confidence, independence and sustainability.
4) To link into existing training provision for age sector groups and to signpost age sector groups to key support services such as financial management to ensure governance, bookkeeping and guidance etc.
The programme will deliver four different types of fundraising training outlined below:
· Preparing and planning for fundraising from small grants
· Making the approach: taking the fear out off funding
· Understanding the grant application
· Support worker’s training course
